HULL: Eleven people will appear in court today after a major investigation into a suspected benefit fraud scam.

The suspects will be the first of 28 people who have been charged in connection with the scam to appear at Hull Magistrates' Court.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "There will be 28 prosecutions, all of which will start at Hull Magistrates' Court."

Most of the defendants have been charged with committing fraud by false representation.

Others have been charged with supplying articles intending them to be used in fraud and money laundering.

Five more defendants will appear in court tomorrow, with the final 12 appearing on Wednesday.
