Peter Swan: Hull City can take all nine points against Brighton, Derby and Charlton

I KNOW Steve Bruce divides his season up month by month when it comes to the points targets he sets in his own mind for the Tigers to achieve, but with three games in the space of a week, I am sure he'll be thinking it's a great chance for Hull City to push on. City picked up a great three points from a tricky trip to Millwall last week, a game I had predicted them to lose in this column. In my defence, I had made my prediction before I knew Ahmed Elmohamady was coming back to the KC Stadium on loan, and by the time I had taken my seat in the stands to commentate on the radio, I had changed my mind and went for the Tigers. That is the difference a player like Elmohamady makes to City, as his presence means they can go out and play to their strengths and attack. With him on one wing and Robbie Brady on the other, City go out to put pressure on their opponents and try to win every game, no matter whether at home or away. That is the way Bruce likes to play it, and I can't imagine either of the two wing-backs even attempting to sit back and play a defensive game. The busy week starts with the televised clash this evening (Saturday) at Brighton, a side which plays very good football and is pushing for the play-offs. However, they have only won two of their last 10 games, and for me, City have the quality and experience to overcome them. We then come to Derby at the KC on Tuesday, a club I seemed to upset earlier in the season when I said they don't bully you or pass you off the park. In fairness, they played good football and are a decent side, but for me, City have better quality in every position on the field. Then, Charlton at home finishes the spell off, and hopefully City will be looking to make it three wins from three. Bruce will be aiming for that I know, but seven points would delight him at this stage of the season.• Read Swanny's match analysis in Monday's Mail.
