LINCOLN Withers says Hull KR must ensure they get an even share of possession at Wakefield this weekend if they are to secure their first Super League points.

Rovers were guilty of making life too easy for Catalan as they strolled to a 32-24 victory at MS3 Craven Park on Sunday.

In the first half alone, Catalan had 11 repeat sets which helped them have twice as many sets with the ball in hand as their hosts.

And having also crossed for their first two tries on the back of penalties conceded by KR, Withers says big changes are needed against the Wildcats at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday.

"Catalan had a lot of repeat sets and we have to make sure Wakefield don't have that against us," Withers told the Mail.

"We need to look at our intensity and we need to address the way we defend the ruck and win the play-the-ball.

"Those are the areas that win games these days. We need to make sure we have an even share of possession."

It wasn't just the first two Dragons tries that came easily to the visitors.

Their third came on the first play of a scrum 10 metres from Rovers' own try-line, and the fifth after Con Mika dropped a pass 20 metres from his own line.

"Catalan didn't score many good tries," Withers added

"They were scrappy, some came from kicks and some from dropped balls.

"They didn't beat us with great skill, so we let ourselves down in certain areas.

"We have a week to sort things out and get our first win on Saturday."

Whilst Rovers are desperate to make amends, so are Richard Agar's Wakefield, who will be smarting from their 40-6 defeat at Bradford.

And with that in mind, Withers believes it will come down to the side which wants it most.

"It's up to the way we turn up and the attitude we have to the game that wins matches," he said.

"Wakefield will be up for it after their defeat at Bradford. It's the start of the season and we have already seen that some teams have shown up and some haven't.

"We will look at the way we approached the Catalan game and try and get it right.

"We had good starts in the friendlies and that might have given us false belief.

"We have to change a few things this week."
