HULL FC vice captain Danny Houghton says patience is important as it will take time for the club's combinations to click.
Hull's attacking prowess was anaemic in their opening round defeat at Leeds, registering one try in a 36-6 defeat at the home of the champions.
Boasting a new full-back and half-back pairing, Houghton says Hull's best form with the ball will take time, but the hooker is confident their partnerships will soon start working.
"The new players have fitted in really well, but it has been a case of all of us adapting, not just the new guys but all of us because the style of play has changed," he told the Mail.
"For me, it has been about getting used to those new guys too. I'm working with Shannon McDonnell and Daniel Holdsworth and it's taken time for me to get used to them, just as it has them."
Hull will hope their attack begins to fire this Friday when they welcome Bradford Bulls to the KC Stadium for their home opener.
The Bulls got off to a flying start in round one, sweeping Richard Agar's Wakefield aside with a seven-try demolition of the Wildcats.
In contrast, Hull's solitary try at Leeds told the story of their stuttering attack.
However, there were some signs of encouragement and Houghton believes the presence of Daniel Holdsworth will help make his side more of a threat this year.
"Daniel will get us around the park easier this year," he added. "He has one of the best kicking games in the competition, and we saw the importance of that last year in the play-offs when Lee Briers kicked us to death and won the game for Warrington.
"Having a good kicking game is massive and Holdsworth will bring us that."
The absence of Gareth Ellis this Friday could mean a first appearance of the year for Danny Tickle as the second-row nears full fitness after a bicep injury.
